ABOUT MAMALLUCA OBSERVATORY
Chile has one of the most privileged skies in the world. For this reason many of the most important scientific telescopes for international research and observation have been placed in the north of the country.
The Cerro Mamalluca Observatory is a tourist observatory located 9 kilometers northeast of the city of Vicuña (Chile). In 1994, it became the first observatory for tourist purposes in the country and today is also the most visited one. Around 50,000 people visit the observatory and its planetarium and telescopes.
Several reports from tourism government policy institutions reportedly showed that despite being the most visited observatory, Mamalluca Observatory had been evaluated as one of the lowest touristic observatory experiences in the country.
The challenge was then to look into the touristic service and organisation, create a diagnosis and design an approach to solve the issues found.
